Stowmarket Carnival is a wonderful family event, providing affordable fun and entertainment for local families. We are busy with the last minute preparations for Carnival 2024, and it’s going to be a good one.
And just like last year, visiting the Carnival is free!
We have a packed programme this year!
And we feature some *NEW* items – like the Friday evening Trail Run starting and finishing on the Recreation Ground, where we will be treated to a *FREE* Concert by the talented Stowmarket Concert Band.
And throughout Sunday there will be other *NEW* activities on the Rec specially for Children, kindly sponsored by Climax Molybdenum, including arts & crafts, circus skills … and a Flea Circus!
Sunday also features the welcome return of our old favourite the Vehicle Show.
Saturday morning there is a lot of frantic activity as the Procession assembles at Bosch (floats) and Meadlands Social Club (others). The Procession starts at 12:30pm and makes its way to the Recreation Ground by about 2pm.
And as usual, from Friday evening till Sunday afternoon, the Rec will feature a variety of music acts and a range of sideshows and displays. There will be craft and charity stalls, and plenty of food and drink stalls too.
The Stowmarket Carnival concludes on the Sunday with the traditional closing Church Service.
Carnival Procession
The all-important Carnival Procession will take place on the Saturday, led by the Carnival Court, with floats, vehicles, walkers, dancers, singers, and fancy dress galore.
Our theme for 2024 is “Decades”, so from William the Conqueror to the present day, there’s been lots to choose from!
The Procession will leave the Meadlands roundabout around 12:30 on Saturday 13th, going westward through Combs Ford and the town, arriving at the Recreation Ground around 2pm.

What's On?
From Friday evening till Sunday afternoon, the Recreation Ground (the Rec) will feature a variety of music acts and sideshows and displays, a range of craft and charity stalls, and plenty of food and drink stalls too. And the ever-popular Stocks Funfair will also be on the Rec for Carnival weekend.
